We had the choice to go by ferry or take a bridge to get to the other side. I jumped at the opportunity to go by ferry. In the distance is the bridge that we returned on. Actually, the bridge you see is an old bridge that was slated to be removed when a wider bridge was built beside it. Plans are being discussed to transform the older bridge into a bicycle – pedestrian bridge. I found it an unpleasant climb, into the wind, beside the noise of cars and trucks. The ferry seems destined to remain. It was a lovely short trip across the water. The cost – 1 euro, 20 cents.
The ferry returns with a few passengers to the opposite side, where already a small crowd is waiting to cross.
Vianen is a small, beautiful town.
